Happy Feet Two (Movie Review)

Happy Feet Two

Happy Feet Two

Happy Feet Two had its moments but story-wise it wasn’t as good as Puss in Boots. The penguins were super cute though and if you love music the movie had great takes on Queen tracks which music lovers would appreciate. The whole eco message and how all life is connected is much stronger in this one compared to the first.

I kinda disliked the whole Bill the Krill (voiced by Brad Pitt) thing that they had going cos’ it seemed like they were trying to emulate Skrat from the Ice Age movies. The character felt very contrived and odd.

Let’s cut to the chase. I give Happy Feet Two a Queen-rocking 3 out of 3 because they had Queen stuff in the movie. Heh.

Megamind (Movie Review)

Megamind

Megamind

Megamind was GREAT! I took my parents out to watch it on Saturday afternoon and boy… was it FUN.

My mom laughed a lot and my dad slept thru the start a bit. Heh. It was a great watch and as much as it was fun for the kids, Megamind had a special tale for us adults too. Actions make a man, and not the other way around. Watching Megamind encouraged me to keep at things in life cos’ as much as people misinterpret me sometimes, I know that pressing on is always the best thing to do. What’s really awesome is that God spoke me along the same lines as I worshiped at church on Saturday evening. I guess Megamind really helped prepare me in some ways to receive from Him.

In short, Megamind is a highly recommended watch and I really liked Will Ferrell in this one. Tina Fey does a great job too. And let’s not forget Brad Pitt who plays a very Elvis Presley-like Metro Man.

I give Megamind a 5 out of 5.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I’ve not been to the movies in months. So today I took a bit of a break after planning for cell with my cellie Tim and we caught this one at 2.45pm in 1 Utama. It’s a great watch and I enjoyed the movie thoroughly. It had a little of the fantastical in it and the way the story was told was unique in a sense (much like Forrest Gump). It had lotsa heart with a host of likeable characters. If anything it’s a great love story that shows both the selfishness & selflessness of love even if there wasn’t that fantasy element to it. Its run should be just about ending soon but it’s possible that the movie could have a bit of an extension because of its Oscar nomination (the Oscars are on tonight btw) so don’t miss it if you can help it.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Coming to you this Christmas!

Coming to you this Christmas!

I just watched a most interesting trailer off Apple.com!

A new Brad Pitt movie that also stars classic screen beauty Cate Blanchett. Based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald short story; the movie revolves around Benjamin Button, a baby born with the physique of an 80-year old man and as he grows him, curiously he grows younger while everyone else around him older.

It’s set somewhere in pre-World War 1 or 2 I think (I can’t tell for sure … but I think I did see a German U-boat in one of the scenes featured in the trailer). It’s certainly one of the more interesting new movies to look forward to this Christmas season. Ah … something to look forward to for a change.

I’m absolutely uncompelled to go to the cinema as there is really nothing out there that catches my eye these days. Sigh … I miss the cinemas …
