Psalm 130

Waiting on Him

Waiting on Him

1 From the depths of despair, O Lord,
I call for your help.

2 Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer.

3 Lord, if you kept a record of our sins,
who, O Lord, could ever survive?

4 But You offer forgiveness,
that we might learn to fear You.

5 I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on Him.
I have put my hope in His word.

6 I long for the Lord
more than sentries long for the dawn,
yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

7 O Israel, hope in the Lord;
for with the Lord there is unfailing love.
His redemption overflows.

8 He himself will redeem Israel
from every kind of sin.

An Honest Plea

May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May He send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
May He remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
May He give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when You are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed;
He answers him from His holy heaven
with the saving power of His right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
O LORD, save the king!
Answer us when we call!
~Psalm 20~

In the Psalm above King David cries out to the Lord from the depths of his heart. That’s what I like most about the book of Psalms. It’s honest. There are no pretenses in King David’s pleas which encourages me to be honest with God too.

When I’m feeling distressed or frustrated I have the assurance that God can and will do something in His time. God’s timing is always best and it’s something that I’m learning to trust in more and more as the days go by. The great thing is that with more trust equals less frustration & distress; which equals more peace in my heart.

Some things in life just need time in order to reach its full fruition and it’s a great comfort to know that we can be honest with God about how we feel. He’s a great listener and unlike most listeners God can do something about the stuff that we’ve told Him. We can count on that!

Words of Comfort

I was just talking to God today as I read the Bible and it dawned upon me that while I enjoy gleaning insights about myself and the world around me from it; the number one reason why I read the Word is to get comfort from it. Comfort is the one thing that I constantly look for when I read the Word and I guess it’s probably my way of finding refuge in God as I continue to work out my faith daily.

It is so not easy to live out my faith because everything in this world is out to snuff out whatever that is good in us. For every selfless act there are 10 more situations where you feel stupid for not looking out for your own interests. It’s tough but I always believe that it’s important to live life differently or we’ll end up perpetuating the very values that make our world what it is today.

How do I continue to wanna live life differently? Here’s how I do it.

The best part of my day is always when I spend time in reflection and in earnest prayer. It may seem stupid to some of you but I would encourage you guys to give it a try to set aside quality time with God. The more life happens the more we’ll discover that we don’t have all the answers and that we are dependent on Him in all things. It is pure arrogance to think that we are the masters of our fate; charting a course through the waters of life to go wherever we please. We’ve been given a great gift in our free-will & choice and how we use that gift determines whether or lives are pleasing to Him or not. That’s what matters at the end of the day; that we please the one who created us and to know that whatever it is we’re going through that there is always hope in Him. Always. By spending time with Him daily I get encouragement but more importantly it enables me to focus and realign myself so that I can stay on target on many things in life. It might seem difficult at first to maintain this but chug through and you’ll find that what was once difficult at first would transform and become an awesome time with Him.

God is the "Top Dog" who can comfort us all the time. *grins*

God is the "Top Dog" who can comfort us all the time. *grins*

Pick up the Bible today and find a little comfort in its words for yourself and who knows maybe you’ll find some answers about life in there too. The book of Psalms is a great place to start. There are 150 great chapters you can choose from and there’s something for everyone there. For those of you who are going through the blackest of nights. Here’s a word of comfort from the Bible that I hope will help you see the breaking of dawn in your struggles.

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise Him,
my Saviour and my God.

Have a good one today guys.

Good morning everyone, here’s a lil’ verse to encourage you if you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed this rainy Wednesday morning in Kuala Lumpur.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

A refuge from the storm.

A refuge from the storm.

Something for the Weary

Psalm 62:5-8

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honour depend on God;
He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

Here’s a lil’ something I read today that I hope will be of encouragement to all of you out there who are going through rough patches. Find rest today yeah? Today and every day.
