Here are a whole bunch of review of movies that I’ve been catching in the past few months. So here we go:
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
A terrible, terrible movie. Slow-moving and boring. It’s Harry Potter’s worst outing yet. I give it a most disappointing 1 out of 5. And that’s saying a lot for a movie in which I had absolutely no expectations of.
- The Social Network
A must-watch. David Fincher’s tale of the advent of Facebook is a gripping one. A big thumbs up to Justin Timberlake who plays a huge supporting role as the charismatic Sean Parker (the creator of Napster).
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
IMHO, the best Narnia yet. Reepicheep stands out in the movie and Simon Pegg does a brilliant job of voicing the noble mouse. Of special note is the references to God/Jesus that Aslan makes towards the close of the movie. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader gets a well-deserved 4 out of 5.
- Tron: Legacy
It has a better script than the original but ultimately Tron: Legacy fails to follow-through on the hype. I watched it twice and the 3D version is disappointing so if you must, catch it in 2D. The Daft Punk soundtrack is awesome though. I give this one 3 out of 5.
- Gulliver’s Travels
I was having a downer of a week when I caught this one and Jack Black made me laugh big-time. The movie has its moments and this modern take of Jonathan Swift’s classic tale is an entertaining one. It was nice to see Amanda Peet in this one. A 3 out of 5.
The movie starts with a bang and never let’s up. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson doesn’t say much but the movie doesn’t need much dialogue for it to work. It’s a great actioner and if you’ve not caught anything in awhile I would definitely recommend catching this one in the cinemas this week. I give Faster a 4 out of 5 for the thrill ride that it is.
