The Other Guys (Movie Review)

The Other Guys

The Other Guys

I caught the trailer a couple of weeks ago whilst watching Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and decided to catch this on Monday with a colleague. Here’s a quick review for what is in my opinion an inane movie.

The Other Guys had its moments especially with Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) & Samuel L. Jackson’s cameo appearance in the first 10mins of the movie. The scene of their demise is especially memorable. Heh.

It’s a typical Will Ferrell flick with an inane plot and some pretty far out moments. The movie does have its moments but it was a pretty mind-numbing movie to sit through. The plot had some promise but the writers must have run out of ideas cos’ it fizzled out 3 quarters through the flick. Even with very little thought I managed to figure out how it was gonna pan out which is rare for me as I don’t usually think too hard about how a movie is gonna end to enjoy how the writers’ develop the plot.

Mark Wahlberg deserves a special mention here cos’ I found his over-the-top angry cop character to be quite a hoot. It was pretty cool to see Michael Keaton whom I remember from Tim Burton’s Batman movies in this one. Eva Mendes is smoking hot in this one; you’ve gotta see it to believe it.

I give The Other Guys a 2 out of 5.
