Remembering Good Friday

Calvary

Calvary

Yesterday was a special day which went by like any other day. Thankfully I found some time late last night to truly process the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice all of us. The cross is a symbol of shame and yet it is also a symbol of hope that God is only a prayer away through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Good Friday 2,000 years ago must have been bleak to all who lived then. All that hope they had in Jesus was shattered. They were scattered. They were in fear. But God had His plan all sorted out; as the Jesus’ disciples were soon to discover. In a sense Good Friday is a remembrance of a dark time but without Good Friday we would not have Easter and the hope that goes along with it.

I miss Good Friday services and wish DUMC would start it up one day. Maybe one day we can have it as a regular observance cos’ Good Friday is a special time that’s significant & central to the Christian faith. I’m thankful that we can be counted as friends with a God who wants to have a personal relationship with us.

I live you all today with the some of Jesus’ words as we celebrate Easter tomorrow. Have a good weekend!

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
