Well done for the most part. The story moved along at an excellent pace but as fans of the book already know, the Harry Potter tale gets much darker in the later books (I haven’t read all the books actually, only the first 2 or 3 I think). The movie reflects that a whole lot which is a little creepy when you think about how innocently the series was when it first started.
All things said I enjoyed almost everything about “Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince” except for the cliffhanger ending. Much like “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”, the latest Harry Potter outing ends on a somber note.
The entire Harry Potter cast has grown up a whole lot and it’s pretty cool to be reminded about things like teenage love that is a sub-theme in the whole movie. Of course there’s the whole Voldemort business but I would think that the focus in this movie is more on the characters themselves which I particularly enjoyed.
It’s a pretty good watch. Just be prepared for the cliff-hanger ending and you should be fine in terms of expectations.
