This is my favourite Baz Luhrman movie yet. All his previous movies have been kinda tragic (the ones that I’ve watched anyways – case in point Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge) and it was a relief that the movie ends on a happy note.

I loved everything about the movie. The pacing was good and it had a good mix of adventure, comedy and romance set amidst the backdrop of World War II and the Australian tragedy of the Stolen Generations. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman have lots of chemistry in this one and it’s a beautiful watch because the Australian scenery is absolutely gorgeous.

This movie closes off my movie screenings for 2008. Here’s hello to 2009! Happy New Year everyone!
